not so far away
there was an actor-girl
and she had many fans
they awed and oh-d with such prasie
blinded as they were by
her charm and her heart
she got flowers and jewels
and friends far and wide
as she hardened and turned
very brittle inside
but the actress, the dancer
she'd smile and she'd sing
and the one in-between, the little one inside
got lost and burned and cried
and then one day
as the petals did fade
an outsider came and he called all the cards
and the actress said yes
and the lost girl cried
the girl took the hand
and led the way
to props and pills and anger and fill
so the actress could stand
with charcoal for eyes and pancake for face
the tears soon faded to grace
but she called to her friend
and Richard, she said
you were so right

and the actress could be very gay
she laughed and she smiled
and many called upon her when they were down
and when she was lonely
and when she was lost
Richard, she said
there's no one I can cry in front of

and Richard, she said

to put that gun to your head
and they clapped and they cheered
on her opening night
and were shocked and dismayed
to hear of her death the next day
for they never knew her
