Witch Hunt
04:21
|
|||
hey what you got
gonna hound you around
i'm gonna run you outta town
you don't need a court
you don't need a judge
the jury is your world on-line
baby brother cut her down
he tied the knots
that kept her bound
tried convicted
and hung on-line
the way you sell it's just sublime
moral panic
uncertainty
the moguls got control on you
moral panic
uncertainty
you don't see the media view
you don't need a court
you don't need a judge
the jury is over on Twitter today
tried convicted
and hung on-line
the way you sell it's just sublime
the media feeds it like a dying dog
you lap it, carrion
the moral majority will track you down
they're gonna drive you to ground
you turn a bit of nothing in to world events
you don't see the media view
the moguls got control on you

Fighting to Fly
04:12
|
|||
i see your darkness calling
to tear me apart
streets glittering with the hate that will be
when this love is smashed to bits
life's evil tricks angel
fly now - temporary freedom
in the light
the angel sweeps the floor
clean of blood once more
it's water you need anyway
back against the wall
slamming slipping down
angel with your wing
fighting to fly
beat your wings against this face
cry love
i will not disgrace you angel
throw the fist
connect the blood drops
splattering the floor of your existence
fighting to fly
darkness comes to me too easily
rain on the sun
the fight for light angel
fighting to fighting to
fighting to fly
i see your darkness calling
to tear me apart
streets glittering with the hate that will be
when this love is smashed to bits
you die in the light too long
darkened corners dust you gently
and call me home
fighting to fly

CAKE
03:50
|
|||
the first time I saw those hounds from hell
i saw a flat black shadow racing on the rails
the tram was riding down the limmatstrasse
early September, it was the third day’s pass
CHORUS
when i first saw that murder of crows, it struck me to the ground
and the girl who left her cake in the rain
with a stack of sweaters made from all those tales
ran behind those hounds and lassoed me
and dragged me out of bounds... she dragged me out of bounds
i breathed and marilyn is landed there
with fits and sighs she's gone again
there's me searching round for that wicked game hang
i see you picked up another demon riding you
and there you go I see
telling me what to do again
telling me I can't sing that way
telling me I standing in the rain

The New Year
03:41
|
|||
the radiator knocks
like a predator
the faucet drips like a snake
the streets wait to catch your wheels
neon flashes like a carousal
the premature ejaculation of
firecrackers melds with the pounding
of your head against the sidewalk
no talk this is the real hard stuff
it breaks and tears
it's the new year
old lady gets scared
as the night moves in to full cadence
she turns the television up
its lonely blue companion
conjurs up ghosts long gone
it's the new year, filled with new fear
all the good bestowed on me
don't add up to the evil alone
that preys on me
steadily
it's a call to the end
the settlement of lonely blue
a delicate tinkling of bells
as the window breaks
to the call of the old lady's
second hand man
the radiator knocks
like a predator
the faucet drips like a snake
the streets wait to catch your wheels
neon flashes like a carousal
the premature ejaculation of
firecrackers melds with the pounding
of your head against the sidewalk
no talk no talk
it's the new year, filled with new fears

The Devil and Gabriel
03:10
|
|||
dropped in a forest
far from hell
conceived by the angel
gabriel
i got wings and a tale
of immaculate perception
you know it well
photos of missiles
and terrorists
self-defense actions
and mustard gas
war is profit
for the metal machine
for stocks and artists
and you and me
kids demonstrating
and kids with guns
massive starvation
no real vote
search & seizure
it's damn near gone
erase self-expression
their hopes and dreams
messin with ju-ju
messin with stuff
backing off dreamers
and playing with lust
looking for perfection
gonna find the key
the devil incarnate
yeah, that's me
hollywood photos
all your gods
security councils
and US condems
war is profit for the money machine
for presidents and lawyers
maybe not you and me

Memphis
03:54
|
|||
i moved here
when elvis died
and the sex pistols came around
it's gospel town
it's rock-n-roll
and i was born that year
it was black V. white
wrong V. might
& a gay boy took me down
to the other side
where the shadows hide
& i went underground
CHORUS
the filth of the streets
that summer heat
those old smokey bars
in memphis town, you'll never be a star
the grit of the streets
that summer heat
those hard grey concrete bars
in memphis town, they'll tell ya who you are
shots rang out
i ducked and ran
and a stripper pierced my ears
i took lots of drugs
learned to play guitar
& i was re-born that year
yeah i was born
by fathers of love
they showed me another chance
i took the host, their holy ghost
got taps
& learned to dance
BRIDGE
i hit the streets
i learned to bleed
i felt its need
i took no heed
i travelled down
to memphis town
got turned around
began to drown
i travelled down
to memphis town
got turned around
was lost & found
yeah i moved in
the year that elvis died
& the sex pistols came to town
it's a rock-n-roll gospel hell
& you'd never last the ride

7-to-Now
04:03
|
|||
i threw away my nice friends
for excitement, glamour and rage
coke, amphetamine and ageless
trapped in this gilded cage
i travelled on your boulevard
i fell to bended knee
i jumped across my shadow
and ran far from your sea
we can go tripping down
memory lane
it doesn't change that
we just don't feel the same
you're standing still, i'm running off
and the years have jaded me
we've walked the walk, we've talked the talk
we've learned to let it be
i took the bus to el paso
i rode it to the coast
i came back thru las vegas
and tracked down your ghost
we can dabble in our histories
and we can just pretend
what we're doing matters
that it will reach its end
i'm tumbling down from london
i took the train down south
i reached to draw the curtains
clawed to the river's mouth
i flew off to barcelona
i'm right back at the coast
we had our drinks, we had our say
and i've put down your ghost

20 Minutes
03:23
|
|||
today will be my lucky day
it won't hurt too much and I'll get paid
sometimes things start a little slow
that's OK, I know it will go
the one I hate's not here Mondays
oh i'll get through, i will, child's play
20 minutes, more or less
it's only 50 - there'll be no mess
the action's here - you lookin' fine
come on baby, don't waste my time
i should have known
when they asked me to stand on the tracks
i should have known
the Express Train was coming in
yeah i should have known
when they asked me to stand on the tracks
i should have known
the Express Train was coming my way
today i just know it will all be fine
the cops will lay low and so will the swine
if i can just squeeze that 20 down 5
there's time to chill, i can survive
i feel the smell, this spiral of shame
it's all OK, i'll be so brave

The Actress and Richard
05:55
|
|||
not so far away
there was an actor-girl
and she had many fans
they awed and oh-d with such prasie
blinded as they were by
her charm and her heart
she got flowers and jewels
and friends far and wide
as she hardened and turned
very brittle inside
but the actress, the dancer
she'd smile and she'd sing
and the one in-between, the little one inside
got lost and burned and cried
and then one day
as the petals did fade
an outsider came and he called all the cards
and the actress said yes
and the lost girl cried
the girl took the hand
and led the way
to props and pills and anger and fill
so the actress could stand
with charcoal for eyes and pancake for face
the tears soon faded to grace
but she called to her friend
and Richard, she said
you were so right
you were so right
and the actress could be very gay
she laughed and she smiled
and many called upon her when they were down
and when she was lonely
and when she was lost
Richard, she said
there's no one I can cry in front of
but she called to her friend
and Richard, she said
you were so right
to put that gun to your head
and they clapped and they cheered
on her opening night
and were shocked and dismayed
to hear of her death the next day
for they never knew her
the lost girl inside
the one left behind
the little one that had cried
and Richard, she said...
